Our symbol for responsibility
The “Grüne Knopf” (“Green Button”) is an official certification for sustainably produced textiles. Shoppers who are looking for clothing that is produced in a socially and environmentally responsible way should look for the Green Button. It is attached directly to the product, so it’s easy for shoppers to find – reliable and user-friendly.
Guidance for shoppers
Three quarters of consumers say that sustainable fashion is important to them. They rightly would not want to wear a T-shirt that was made by sweatshop workers working 16-hour shifts for a poverty wage, or that was dyed using toxic chemicals. The “Grüne Knopf” shows that sustainable fashion is possible!
Official certification generates trust
The “Grüne Knopf” is the first certification of its kind. It requires companies to protect human rights and the environment. In total, it contains 46 strict social and environmental standards – ranging from restrictions on wastewater limit values to prevention of forced labour.
Our certified series:
The Organic range for women is made of GOTS-certified, fair-trade, organic cotton and is manufactured exclusively in Germany.
Our innovative RE:THINK series for men is made of GOTS-certified organic cotton and is manufactured exclusively in Europe.
“The ‘Grüne Knopf’ provides shoppers with clear guidance. I’m pleased that Mey GmbH & Co. KG is on board with the official certification. By doing so, the brand has set the agenda for corporate responsibility. Especially during the COVID crisis, this is more important than ever.”
Dr. Gerd Müller, Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development
